Our general topic of interest is Reading and Comprehension. Since we are language teachers, we were curious to see how the use of VTRs deepened our student's comprehension of the topic.

In this research, we worked with students on how effective the use of VTRs is for the development of reading comprehension in comparison with traditional activities. For this, during readings, we did both traditional activities and VTRs and invited students to self-assess the skills developed in both situations.
For data collection tools, we used google forms, jamboard, google presentation and docs as conductors for traditional questions and the selected VTRs.
We could see that, using the VTRs as tools for the reading workshop, the students had deeper answers, longer and more lively discussion about the novel, characters and possibilities and were more involved with the reading.
We learned that all students are ready to have more meaningful readings, in group or individually, as long as the educator knows the right tools to use to guide the students along the path of reading and reflecting.
For the future, using these results, we plan to improve and continue using a reading portfolio that paves the reading path with all the VTRs that represent the Understanding Map.
